LOOSE NOTES - June was a busy music month, let's dive in. People ask us where can they have a touch of music with their conversational dining. Two new spots on the beat come to mind, Crazy Alan's Swampshack and the Signature Bistro. The food at both places are already well regarded. The Swampshack this month had nonstop David Schwope on stage with ample gentle sea breezes in the air qualifying the spot as special hangout. Over at Signature Bistro, easy listening live music from Kevin Fenton's endless play list was on the Sunday brunch fare. Both places are recommended... On and about the rest of the beat, we hooked onto the return of Balinese Ballroom house reggae band, Shark Attack. Whoa! These guys are back and they're attacking everwhere on the SCENE (H&J, Pier 27 & Zone 504) and across the region. Summer's made for reggae - Go get attacked... Cullen's battle for the house band is continuing strong every Thursday (Time In A Bottle & Magazine put forth good shows and are still in the running). If you haven't been a part of this yet, you *really* need to check it out... Hugh & Jeff's continues bringing new bands onto the SCENE circuit. This month, Organized Chaos and Space Monkeys stormed through with perhaps the single most energetic show of the month with Frontman Shawn Pritchard slamming down the over-the-top-high-energy honors. The Space Monkey's came down from the inner loop and scored the best sounding LOUD Cover Band Since Grand Funk Railroad... Speaking of high energy, Scout Bar came through with a nice shot in the arm when Taproot Tourstopped Clear Lake and unleashed one of the finest indoor arena band shows complete with moshpit action for the fittest of fit, something the area's been craving. The Sunday night BuzzFest continues to cook with out of town acts Red Pyramid and The Hectic's CD release party rolling through. Come December, it'll be time again to pick a winner--For now, the heat is on... [GOTO CHELSEAS]
